Podcast, My Experience

It has been my experience that the use of social media has enriched my life on a level I had never previously experienced before. The speed at which I can receive or give fast information surprises me still. I can see how many people look at, like, tweet, re-tweet or respond to messages, pictures or videos I am interested in. The access I have to other people is leaps and bounds ahead of the old fashion way of calling someone up and setting up a meeting. I can now follow people in my industry or other areas of interest by simply following them. I can get daily tweets from success people like Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and a star on Shark Tank that I follow on twitter. I also get motivated by following Gary Vaynerchuk, a motivational speaker I follow on Facebook. Taking information from those and other successful people on how they build their business on a daily basis encourages me to reach out to people in the same fashion through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, podcasts and blogs. This technology is not going away and it will become faster and more improved every day. It is time to jump on the band wagon!

Podcast, Micro 7

First, brainstorm about what you would like the podcast to be about. Mine covers motivation. A written script should then be developed and practiced. I would recommend practicing before a mirror also to get the intended inflection, tone, pacing and intent of your message. Listen to several recordings also. The demographics of my selected audience would be military veterans that have been discharged or retired from the military and their families. Attracting an audience by talking the same language and marketing in places veterans frequent like the VA Hospital, VFW or similar organizations with the best interests of the military at heart. I did not find it difficult to come up with different ideas or brainstorm because I am passionate about this subject, but it was somewhat difficult in organizing all my ideas into a written format.

Micro 5

Information such as email, name, and number; some ask for location. This information is vital to have people find your product, information or business. This is the same information that all blogs or other forms of social media need to create your profile. It is personal information and in the wrong hands could be damaging not only on personal level, such as identity theft but also on a business level and destroy a business' security as well as reputation. Social medial is being seen these days by millions of people and it is the most vulnerable of all. Privacy is a big concern.

Micro 3

I use Facebook quite often to communicate with family because they are so far away. In fact, I don't have phone numbers or addresses on most of my cousins any more because we stay in touch strictly with Facebook. I had a LinkedIn page but I don't have a picture nor do I keep it up to date. I think the reason I don't keep it up to date is I feel I have to keep something new on it all the time and I don't have the time to make continuous updates to it. I don't have a recent professional picture taken of myself to post on LinkedIn, which I feel is an important image to project when using LinkedIn. I had twitter for a time also but I let it slowly drop also. I do think that each of these to also include Instagram are areas I should keep update to date on and use them to network with more than just family but potential business contacts as well.
